Beth's Story
Beth has always been passionate about teaching and enjoys sharing her love for education. Her journey began working with children in a school at an Non-Governmental Organisation in Cambodia, which deepened her commitment to making learning meaningful and accessible for all. On returning to the UK, she completed a BA in Education at Oxford Brookes University, where she developed a strong interest in growth mindset and how to help children grow, think and learn effectively.

She went on to teach in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 at a primary state school in Berkshire, where she became a Talk for Writing practitioner. Talk for Writing is an educational approach where children use spoken storytelling to understand and create written texts more confidently. Here Beth focused on helping children reduce their cognitive load by making their thinking and learning visible.

Beth then moved to a top independent school, Thomas’s London Day Schools, where she took on leadership roles including Head of Year and Whole School Enquiry Lead. Here she supported pupils and staff in developing creativity and metacognitive strategies, helping children understand how they learn, not just what they learn. Her work then expanded across all four Thomas’s schools (Clapham, Battersea, Kensington and Fulham) in her role as Lead Practitioner for Curriculum and Development.

Alongside her teaching and leadership responsibilities, Beth completed a master’s degree where she further explored metacognition and the science behind key learning habits, such as resilience, questioning and deep thinking. These habits remain at the heart of her approach today.
